(NEW YORK)(April 25, 2009) Internet powerhouse Andy Martin will hold a New York City news conference today, Saturday, April 25th to ramp up his demand that President Barack Obama fire New York influence peddler Steven Rattner.
Martin says Rattner is a “growing cancer” and embarrassment in the Obama administration. “Every day brings new embarrassments: yesterday it was ‘pay to play’ in New Mexico,” says Martin. “What’s next? The New York scandal is only getting worse. Rattner may not have initially been a target of the criminal probes, but he sure has become the ‘target’ of prosecutors’ concerns as the evidence of systematic corruption at Quadrangle Group mounts. Rattner was the man who personally met with the crooks. How can they be guilty and he be innocent? It does not compute.
“Is this a bribery prosecution or a prostitution case, where the girls get axed and the ‘Johns’ walk? Is the ‘fix’ in?
“Why is Obama afraid to fire this New York influence peddler? Is Goldman Greed & Co. behind his reluctance?
“The evidence now reflects that Steven Rattner is a one man crime wave; he is a thoroughly and utterly corrupt businessman who was buying influence in New York by the bushel basket, and no doubt purchased influence in the Obama administration as well. ‘Pay to play?’ How much juice did Rattner generate for Barry O?
“The scandal-a-minute Obama administration is probably bracing for an indictment of New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson. Rattner was there. In fact, Rattner has been on the cutting edge of corruption everywhere, before he joined Obama. Has he changed his spots, or merely changed his office location?
“Last week when I became the first columnist to call for Rattner’s removal, I was alone. This week the New York Post joined the movement:

“Rattner has a bright political future: in Chicago’s cesspools of corruption and conflicts of interest. He is less than worthless to the Treasury Department; he is an embarrassment.
“Rattner and his former firm say they are ‘fully cooperating.’ Fully cooperating with what? Does an embezzler go free if he ‘fully cooperates’ in the investigation of his theft?
“Go Steve go.”
Martin, who is an expert in and previously taught New York law, hopes to ask this week that Attorney General Andrew Cuomo widen his grand jury probe to include Rattner and Rattner's firm Quadrangle Group as targets.
