(NEW YORK)(March 20, 2008) Chicago-based media critic and Internet columnist Andy Martin will hold a 3:30 P.M. New York City news conference today, March 20th, to celebrate the demise of Bear Stearns & Co. The Republican reformer tangled with Bear Stearns over the firm's corrupt practices.
"Today, [Thursday, March 20th] we celebrate the demise of an 'evil empire' on Wall Street, Bear Stearns & Co.," Martin will state. "I have prayed for the downfall of this business for years, ever since they bribed a federal judge to win a case against me. Last year I announced a prayer vigil and 'curse' until Bear Stearns was destroyed. [August 10, 2007 release follows] This week we won. The bloodsuckers got the blood sucked out of them.
"Bear Stearns had become legendary in Illinois for bribing Illinois political figures with 'fees,' which were nothing more than bipartisan graft. Even as I dance and celebrate, someone is on trial for his alleged role in Bear Stearns Illinois shenanigans.
"I also had a personal conflict with Bear Stearns. I believe they bribed a federal judge to win a crooked case. That was Bear Stearns, crooked from beginning to end. Bear Stearns brought German shepherd guard dogs on to Park Avenue to intimidate me from protesting against the firm's greed and villainy. Well, BS and their guard dugs are history. I am not. I get to dance on their grave." Martin will state. "They won't be around to bribe Illinois politicians any more. Good riddance."

COLUMNIST SAYS “PIRATE” FIRM BEAR STEARNS & COMPANY SHOULD BE RUN OUT OF BUSINESS BY FEDERAL REGULATORS
(CHICAGO)(August 10, 2007) Last week in church I prayed for the demise of Bear Stearns & Company, the crooked and greedy Wall Street operation that has done so much harm to America.
In our Judeo-Christian canon, man proposes and God disposes. I will trust to a higher authority to mete out justice to Bear Stearns.
I first encountered Bear Stearns over a decade ago. They were slimy, crooked, greedy and malicious. Complete pirates. Arrogant, unprincipled and intransigent. Since then, I have prayed every day that they would experience the bloodthirsty terror that they inflict on helpless homeowners across America.
I think the curse I placed on Bear Stearns is close to fruition.
My hope is that decent people around the world will add their prayers for the collapse of Bear Stearns.
Money is not intrinsically evil; evil people make money evil. Bear Stearns is an evil organization. It deserves to go out of business.
My prayers and curse will continue from day to day until Bear Stearns is shut down and liquidated by federal regulators.
